Electric fountainFrom 7 February 5 April,the plaza at Rockefeller Center will be wet the light generated by LEDs Electric Fountain, one of the few public art installations of the acclaimed British artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster. This stunning and bright three-dimensional sculpture is ten meters high and a diameter of as many. The fountain is made of 3.390 LED lights and 527 meters of pipes neon.Il exactly replicate the project all the movements of water as: flow, creating a gushing flow and almost hypnotic experience for the visitor.

Presented by Art Production Fund, sponsored by Lexus, and hosted by Tishman Speyer, co-owner of Rockefeller Center, the Electric Fountain, will be viewable to the public free of charge.
Electric Fountain represents the modern view of Noble and Webster, fountains of the ancient art of. It simultaneously refers to the symbols of pop culture, like the neon signs of Las Vegas and Times Square, and historical fountains built in the squares, as Triton Fountain of Bernini.

The project replicates the tradition of the fountain as a monument to be found in all the squares in the world; but his magic inherent in the simulation of water through the use of light. During the hours of the day the visitor includes structural and architectural qualities of the fountain, such as lights that vary according to changes in atmospheric city. The night, however,, structure disappears in the darkness leaving only the illusion of a sparkling fountain”.

A monument to the twenty-first century, Electric Fountain is the celebration of the spectacular, dell’eccesso, beauty and desire for contemporary culture, but it is also a challenge to the consumerist nature of our society, a theme often present in the works of Webster and Noble.
