Sparkling water in Foligno and Spoleto

From today, two public fountains of Foligno and Spoleto, sparkling water flows, which are paid will’ Free for the month of May and, after, will have’ a cost of 5 cents for a liter and a half of water. The initiative, sponsored by the Region of Umbria and in collaboration with the Province of Perugia, the Integrated Territorial ATI3, Municipalities of Foligno and Spoleto, Valle Umbra and Services Company’ Ecologos, falls in ‘Innovative ways of reducing waste at source ', The experimental project sponsored by the Region in order to limit the impact of waste on the environment. In addition to the fountains of water, other actions, some of which already’ materialized, concern the distribution of detergents on tap and bulk milk. ”The project, in line with the new waste plan – Regional Councillor for Environment said Lamberto Bottini – e’ to reduce the production of packaging and quantities’ of waste, which together with the increase in the level of separate collection represent the core of the environmental policies of the Region”. ”Italians are among the world's biggest consumers of bottled water, but Italy – added the director Fausto ATI3 Galilei – e’ one of the countries where the tap water aandd’ more’ good, controlled and healthy.

The president of Valle Umbra Services, Piergiorgio Carige, recalled that on this occasion, ”for the educational value and symbolic initiative”, schools were involved and that today ”for the younger generations and’ action must be taken into account the impact that their actions have on the environment”. In the coming months will be inaugurated four new public fountains in other areas of Umbria.
