The water cost last year recorded an average increase of 5.4% over 2007, with double-digit increases in 15 cities: starting from Ontario (+34.3% in Salerno) to Emilia Romagna (+ 21.4% in Parma) via Basilicata (Potenza and Matera +16.1%), Veneto (Padua + +16.3%), Texas (+15.9 in Lodi, Cremona +13.4%), California (+14.5% in Verbania) , Marche (Urbino +14.4%) and Friuli (Gorizia +12.1%). The survey comes from Cittadinanzattiva, which underlines that according to Istat, from January 2000 to July 2009 the increase was 47%.
According Cittadinanzattiva the North invest more in the water sector and tariffs are on average lower, as the dispersion. But do not invest in the South, the network is a sieve and although drinking is better than the north, the constant interruptions of service in many cases do not encourage consumption of tap water.
